Welcome to The Insider

Dear Investor,

At its May board meeting the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has continued its watching brief leaving the Official Cash Rate on hold for the fifth month straight.

Recent data shows the effects of rising petrol prices and utility costs on consumer spending. In the household sector sentiment remains subdued and overall credit growth is modest.

The RBA should be in no hurry to raise interest rates and they are definitely aware of the multi-speed nature of the Economy.

On a positive note, the subdued credit growth is bringing the best out of the banks in terms of increased competition. It's a buyers market for home loans with lenders launching almost daily special offers and willing to discount loans to acquire business.
